U14 Rep Roulston's Pharmacy Tillsonburg Otters Capture Silver at OBA Provincials After Gritty Weekend Run
The Tillsonburg U14 Otters capped off their season with a memorable run at the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) Provincial Finals this past weekend, battling their way to a silver medal finish and showing the heart, resilience, and teamwork that defined their year.
The Otters opened the tournament on Friday with a convincing 12-8 win over Ancaster, setting the tone for a competitive weekend.
Saturday proved to be a marathon for the squad, who played three games virtually back-to-back. Their first matchup against Stratford stretched into an exhausting three-hour-and-30-minute showdown, with Stratford eventually pulling ahead for a 19-14 win. Rather than hang their heads, the Otters regrouped and came back stronger. They knocked off Woodslee 10-7 before cruising to a 15-3 win over Kingsville, punching their ticket to Sunday’s semifinals.
The semifinal against Thorold was nothing short of dramatic. The Otters built a lead, but Thorold came charging back late, loading the bases in the final inning with the go-ahead run standing on first base. Under pressure, the Otters held strong, slamming the door to seal a thrilling 10-8 victory and advance to the championship.
In the gold medal game, Tillsonburg once again met undefeated Stratford. The Otters would need to beat them twice to capture the championship. They came out strong, leading for half the game, but Stratford’s bats heated up late. The 20-7 final score doesn’t reflect the effort.
From start to finish, the Otters showcased grit and determination. Every player made a meaningful contribution along the way, and the steady leadership of their coaches kept the team united through the highs and lows.
The Tillsonburg community can be proud of this team, who represented their hometown with class, heart, and an unforgettable weekend of baseball. Congratulations to the players and coaches on an incredible season and a well-earned provincial silver medal.
